2 out of 5 stars Not a good phone   October 8, 2008

This is a pretty basic phone. I purchased it directly at a Verizon Wireless store so I could get a special plan. It was definitely not worth the price I paid for it.

I'll have to admit, this is the first Verizon phone that I have owned, having switched over from ATT because of poor service in my area (Southern California). I have always thought Verizon phones in general were pretty poor because Verizon uses it's own software. However I was surprised that this phone wasn't too bad.

I like how the phone looks and feels as it is quite similar to my old phone.

The problem is that the phone has the same exact features as my 2 year old LG CU-500 that I paid a little more for than this phone. 1.3mpx camera, video, micro sd slot ect. The only feature that it does have is voice commands, which is basically on any phone now.

Problems with the basic features. The voice quality on the headset speaker is poor. My old phone sounded great whenever it had a good signal. When I use my bluetooth with the phone it sounds much better. The speaker for the speaker phone is also poor and it's on the front of the phone, so when you open it to use it, it's behind the phone!

I rarely use the ring feature of my phone in case I forget to mute it at important times so it's important to have a good vibrate function. The 6205 doesn't have a very strong vibrate so it's difficult to tell when it vibrates.

The phone overall seems sluggish. It may just be the software on it but when I open up the music player it takes a couple of seconds. I can understand this, but there seems to be no real indication that it's working such as a blinking light or progress bar.

Another problem (which I might need to read the manual) but is when I text it doesn't remember that I selected predictive text. When I send a new text I have to change it back to predictive text mode. Another problem with it is that when it gets the word wrong it doesn't have an option (that I can easily see) to go to the next closest word or manually enter it without going out of predictive text mode (My old phone did this no problem).

Another major issue with the camera other than the quality is pretty poor, is that the main screen and outside screen do not work at the same time. You have to manually switch modes which is quite annoying. Video resolution is very low at only 176x144.

The charger isn't easy to plug it. If you connect it as just the right angle it's fine, but if you are in a hurry or not careful it just won't go in. The cover for it can also easily get in the way, but I do like how the cover seems durable.

I'm not sure if this is the phone or Verizon's service but the Internet seems to be very slow. I haven't used the internet on a phone before, but from what I've seen on this phone, I don't understand why someone would pay $15 :).

From playing with this phone for a couple of days I can definitely say that I will be returning this phone ASAP. I'm not sure what phone I will get as Verizon's choices of phones seems quite poor, which is why I chose this phone in the first place. I would recommend to stay away from this phone, as a much cheaper phone has the same features and might actually perform them much better.

I recently ordered this phone and I am unimpressed because of the following issues

- The speakerphone has an intermittent operating fault (occasionally when I dial someone while using the speakerphone, the party with whom I'm speaking hears everything he or she says repeated in his or her handset).
This behavior happens with some people and not with others, even from the same location. As it's an intermittent problem, it's extremely annoying and unacceptable for me, not something I experienced with my Nokia 6133 (T-Mobile) or my LG VX-3400 (Verizon).

- The call clarity from my apartment is intermittently poor despite 3 bars of coverage. I tried calling someone and my connection with that person was sporadically coming in and out. I dialed that same person with my LG VX-3400 (work phone) from the same location and had no problems.

-The phone doesn't have any weight to it at all and,as a result, just doesn't feel good to the hand.

-The battery seems to discharge quickly. I charged it up the day I got it, had a few conversations, used the camera a couple of times with the flash to test that feature (the flash turns all your photos white by the way), and the next day I was down to two bars. I'm not sure if the flash was mostly responsible, but this quick a discharge of the battery still seems a bit unusual.

-The left arrow navigation key, when depressed from the main screen, automatically dials up the Mobile Web. For some people this may be a convenience, but for me it's annoying because I'm charged for going to that web service when I accidentally hit the small key and I'm not given any kind of indication requesting if I'm sure I want to to be charged 1.99 for data transfer.

As per the echoing, I also had this issue with the Moto W755 and thus ordered this phone as a replacement. I'm not sure why it's happening but I do tend to do alot of voice dialing and that could be a related cause. I've also experienced the problem while dialing manually though.

I didn't have the problem with my 6133, and will reactivate that phone if I can't seem to find a new phone that operates without such an annoying feedback...needless to say that this 6205 will be returned shortly.

All of that said, I can say that I like the way the phone looks visually and it has a nice sized screen on the outside which is good for displaying my favorite image. The phone just fails in the key functionalities for me: speakerphone and call quality.
