Old shaving technology give so-so shave December 2, 2008 L. Keck (NY, NY & Richmond CA) I used Remington electric razors from 1963 until 1995+ and then started buying Panasonic and similar Linear- high speed razors. I was surprised when this Remington got better reviews than any other brand. But when used the shaver, I found it no better than the 1990's version. I want to find that review and make certain to avoid that source, as it obviously was a OEM influenced ranking- where the highest fee or advertizing payment gets the best rating. Don't waste $50 on the Remington, invest $85 in the most economical Linear Panasonic.
Am not sure about Consumer Reports Review December 2, 2008 S. Rajan (Cleveland, OH) I have been a 6+yrs Norelco rotary blades electric shaver user and when it was time to replace it I decided to check out the advancements in this field and bought this shaver after going through the reviews here and Consumer Reports recommendation. It's been 3 mos since I've been using this razor, the shave is just OK, the shaver does not do not a good job in the jaw area and at the skin folds, I have been more or less following the instruction of "stretching" your skin to create a flat surface but compared to my previous razor this one falls short. It does a decent job on the flat areas. Also 2 weeks ago one of the screens broke (huge hole in the center) and I had to spend $20+ to buy replacement screens (also got a new set of blades). The holder design is far from convenient when it comes to replacing these screens and one needs very "gentle" hands to ensure you do not damage the new screens. Maybe my shaving technique with screen shaver is poor and that is why I am having "shaving quality" problems, I am still giving the benefit of doubt to this shaver and will try see if I have better luck with the new screens (there is no reason for me to believe why the results will be any better-but hey there is all these positive reviews for a reason). If not, the screen razors is not my cup of tea and I am back to rotary blades razor, just hate spending $100+ on a shaver!!
Great shave for the price December 1, 2008 S. Lancaster (TN) I have been using this shaver for about a month and I am very pleased. It provides a very close shave... especially for the price. It's also lightweight and holds a charge very well.
Nice close shaves November 29, 2008 David M. Hungerford III Bought this last month after leaving my ten-year-old electric at a hotel. Pros: It really does deliver a nice close shave. It's not quite as close as a blade, but it's darn close, and it's *miles* better than my old electric. The battery lasts a while, it's easy to clean, and the trimmer does work. Cons: The trimmer is fairly weak and somewhat difficult to get to work on rogue neck whiskers. Overall, it's a great product except for the trimmer.
Great Shaver for the Money November 29, 2008 Zibplipperman (Washington State) I needed to replace a Braun that had worn-out batteries and chose the Remington MS2-390 based on reviews in a "leading consumer magazine" and user comments posted here at Amazon. The MS2-390 is noisier, but it is lighter and shaves closer than the Braun. The MS2-390 is also cleaner, as it doesn't leak shaved whiskers like the Braun did. Plus, the MS2-390 can be rinsed in water. Overall the Remington MS2-390 is a very good razor for the money.
