4 out of 5 stars User Review   November 10, 2008

I purchased this product three weeks ago and absolutely love it. I had been doing research for about a year now on all the various laptop coolers, and I have to say that I like this one the most. Its a little pricey then a lot of the others out there, but I think its worth it.
I read some of the other reviews on here before I bought it and I would like to set the record straight about a couple of things. First, this cooler comes with two USB cables. One of them powers the cooler while the other connects to the USB hub on the back of it. I have a MacBook Pro and did not have any problem powering the cooler with my wall charger plugged into the laptop. Once I removed that power cable from my laptop, I would get a message saying that I didnt have enough power to support the USB hub and it would turn it off. I contacted the manufacturer about this to see about getting an AC adapter. They were more then happy to send me one free of charge and I only had to provide them with my sales receipt or invoice. Now I can use this cooler all the time without having to worry about the power issue. One of the down sides to this adapter is that once you have the AC adapter plugged into the cooler, there is no on and off switch. In order to turn it off, you just have to unplug it from the back. That is why I gave it four out of 5 stars.
All in all, I would recommend this to anyone that has a huge laptop. I have a 17" MacBook Pro and still have plenty of room on both side. Its very sturdy and keeps my laptop very cool when playing World of Warcraft. I think it brought my temp down about seven degrees Celsius compared to all the other coolers I have tried. I like this one the best. So if you are looking for something that going to get the job done, this is your cooler.

2 out of 5 stars Nice base, but the electronis are not so good   November 4, 2008
Jeff Holt (Stevenson, WA)
I did a bit of research on cooling bases for my Mac Book Pro and ended up with this one. seemed like the right fit for my needs. The 4 port hub, external powered fans, all seemed like a good plan. However, the fan power and hubs do not work consistently and didn't come with a power supply and should for this kind of money. I suspect I will have to go in a fix things up. I will first post a question to the manufacturer, but do not expect much. In general I like the product, just poor quality control on the electronics.

1 out of 5 stars Not for MacBook Pro   October 29, 2008

I plugged it into my 17 inch MBP (which was not running on battery power) and the operating system immediately shut down the USB port because the device was pulling to much power. Either I got a defective unit or this will not work with the USB on a MacBook.

5 out of 5 stars This NZXT Cryo LX Laptop Cooler is worth the bucks!!!   October 11, 2008
William I. Dube (San Diego, CA United States)
Pros: Easily handles laptops up to 19" wide screen.
Three large cooling fans with speed control.
EXTRA Sturdy aluminum construction.
Folds down for easy transport.
Four port USB hub included.
Silver is the natural color for aluminum so there will be
no color issues with this model.

Cons: Loose two laptop USB ports: one for power and one
for the USB HUB. (I have suggested to NZXT to include a
COMBO Patch cord that could replace the two cords provided
or a plug in power supply with USB PATCH cord to solve the
loss of two USB LAPTOP ports.)
The edges are metal and could be a little more rounded on the
corners so be careful when placing this on your antique tables
to work on.

Conclusion: This thing works!!! It's sturdy and I expect it to way outlast my laptop... The CRYO LX is well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Cooling Pad Works Great   October 10, 2008
Carl Johnson
I purchased this cooling pad for a Toshiba A75-S211 (3.2GHz) notebook that my daughter uses in a relatively warm room (by Florida standards), 78-82 degrees F. With our old cooling pad, she used to run the notebook at mid-cpu power to prevent overheating. With this NZXT cooling pad, she can run at full-cpu power with no overheating problems.
