Better than expected August 18, 2008 K. Stoltenberg (Iowa) After reading all the reviews about the Sidewinder, I was a little skittish, but I took a chance and ordered it. It arrived in a box that looked a little worse for the wear, but the slide, blower and other toys were well packaged and no damage. It took less than 15 minutes to set up the first time and in less than 20 minutes total my 5 year old, his two cousins and I were having a great time. That was over a month ago and it's been used almost daily since then. We are the party place of the neighborhood and the slide is showing no signs of giving up. My only complaint, or comment more like, is that I wish it had come with more than one body board. The kids have a blast with that and it's a full time job getting them to share. But all in all, I'm glad I went with the Sidewinder. I haven't needed to call customer service, so I can't speak to that issue. However, there is a very large print customer service number printed right on the slide, so I can only hope that if I have need, that it will prove as friendly as the slide.
Well worth the investment August 18, 2008 E. Henry (PA) So far so good... I have had this product for about a month now and used it six or seven times and my one and four year olds love it. Having the two slides and wadding pool is perfect for kids of that age. I read the horror story reviews and almost did not buy it but I could not justify spending $100 more to rent one and only use it one day. Based on the bad reviews and my own experience the two things you can do to make this product last - 1. make sure it's completely full of water before using - 2. limit and or closely supervise large/rough kids. With only 3-4 feet from the base of the slide to the wall it would not take much end your slide fun. As I said So far So good my family has realy enjoyed this slide...Hope this helps
Mixed feelings August 17, 2008 Deborah Mastio Kuhner (New Orleans, LA) This inflatable is great fun, easy to inflate....not the problem. To dry this and put it up as recommended is virtually impossible. We live in New Orleans where it rains sometimes everyday and is so humid 99% of the time. During a dry spell of a few days we dryed it off in the sun and with towels, then, flipped it every day to dry out on all sides and then folded it up. Two weeks later got it out to use and it had black mold on the colorful new slide and pool sides. A 10% bleach solution diminished the mold, but I don't know about you but all the work of drying it and still having a problem takes the fun out of it for me. Any drier climate should be fine. I haven't been able to put a $figure on this but seems like we use alot of water and electricity. We have had it for only 3 mos now so I will review again next summer for its durability.
Could have been 5 stars if.... August 17, 2008 D. Wheeler (Salt Lake City, UT) If not for seams pulling apart and letting too much air out that it would eventually only hold one kid at a time (and precarious at that). My kids, and the all the neighbor kids loved it. But it is a one summer item that will need a major re-haul after winter, or after only 5 months of use. We would put it up once a week sometimes two times a week. Still not horrible entertainment for $400 for the kids. Cheaper than putting a pool in. Recommended if you understand that this is a one summer purchase, and a may or may not be usable the next summer. Bonus if it does.
Great purchase! August 16, 2008 H. Wong (Houston, Texas United States) We have a 11, 9, and 3 years old. They love it; especially our 3 year old. We've had it for over a month; and have left it out in the rain. The product ,so far, is holding up very well. Their friends love to come over. Renting a water slide for a couple of hours per day is about $200-$250. So, I figure that we saved money, if we could use this just 3 times. The only negative is that we have a dead patch of grass, when we put up the slide. It's really our fault, since we were too lazy to move the slide around.
