A series worth its salt April 8, 2005 B. Chandler (Arlington, Texas) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The story of the history of Popes, where they came from, what they did, and the results of their choices. The story follows a time line. It is unfortunate that they stop just as it is getting good. There are a lot of great pictures of people and places. You feel that you were there. This is a worth while series and unless you are an expert on the material covered you may need to view it several times as they must speed through time to cover all the bases. Of course they the producers have their own spin on history; yet they are not obnoxious with a view that overshadows the facts.
Excellent Historical Document on the Papacy June 9, 2002 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This video is an informative, interesting, well-balanced presentation on the papacy and the events which have surrounded it in the last 2,000 years. The documentary brings the papacy to life and is a wonderful historical document.
A Documentary on the History of the Catholic Church March 8, 1999 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Originally aired on the History Channel, this documentary takes you through the History of the Catholic Church through the lives of her popes. The decision-makers through the years leave their mark; both good and bad on history. A well balanced presentation with excellent cinematography for a documentary.
Accurate depiction/history of the Popes of the Church December 18, 1998 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This video starts at the beginning of the Catholic Church and depicts the hard times and periods of martyrdom. Continues to follow the lines of the major Popes through Pope John Paul II. It does talk to the controversies of Vatican II, birth control and other areas of contention with many of the lay members of the Catholic Church.
